Buying or selling a home is one of the most important financial decisions anyone can make. But with new regulations like the recent National Association of Realtors (NAR) settlement shaking up the market, are you equipped with the knowledge you need to make the best decisions?

The real estate market is shifting once again—this time, in a way that gives consumers (you) more power. With the National Association of Realtors’ recent settlement reshaping how home sale commissions work, effective August 17, buyers and sellers are poised to save money like never before. But understanding these changes can feel overwhelming, and that’s where Aloha My Home comes in. Our mission has always been to empower you to make smarter decisions, and now, we’re doubling down to help you navigate this new era of real estate.

But how is the market changing and what’s the direct impact of those regulatory requirements on you and your plans? And why aren’t the real estate gurus at Aloha My Home demystifying these changes for everyone in real time? Before I answer that, I need to dive into why we’ve been off the grid during this monumental shift in power from brokerages to consumers.

"How are things?"

To answer the question I’m asked so frequently, things are, well, hard. It was grueling when my mom and I were actively acquiring, flipping, and managing investment properties, and it’s still challenging now. I’ll share the active investing hardships we experienced in a separate blog series, but here’s the reality: If running a business is hard, disrupting an entrenched industry is even harder.

So what have we spent the last few months doing if not providing public service announcements about the state of the market? Somewhat ironically considering our apparent lack of media, we’ve been honing our marketing expertise! With email, social media, SEO, and other forms of available marketing tactics, determining which channels are best suited for our cause has taken some time. While our marketing systems a la The E Myth aren’t perfect, we’re finally ready to start promoting consumer empowerment on a consistent basis.

What’s Next for Aloha My Home?

Since its inception, Aloha My Home’s mission has been to save people money by helping them make unbiased, educated decisions, which is accomplished through education in our marketing. Going forward, here’s what you can expect:

  • Consistent Communication: Regular newsletters reporting on market trends, stories from others’ experiences, and information to help our audience—you—understand the fundamentals of a property sale.
  • Smart Property Matches: Our innovative matching algorithm saves you time by identifying properties perfectly suited to your needs

Aloha My Home isn’t just the new way to buy and sell houses, it’s the smart way. If our journey has taught anything, it’s that disruption isn’t easy, but it’s worth it when it means more savings and better experiences for homebuyers and sellers like you. Life is full of hard choices, and this path is the long, hard road I'll continue to choose. After all, to quote Jeff Bezos, “All overnight success takes about 10 years.”

Cheers to a prosperous and exciting New Year, fellow real estate aficionados!
